I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Deputy Prime Minister Lord John Prescott. He was a force of nature in the Labour Party, a proud working class trade unionist who never forgot where he came from and bashed heads together to deliver change like no other.
It was a pleasure to spend time with John and witness his deft negotiation skills at the UN climate summit in Mexico in 2014, where we agreed a schedule for countries to review their progress towards keeping the global temperature rise below 2°C.
His commitment to concrete action on curbing climate change showed real world leadership.
Rest in peace to a true giant of our movement.
