And so we are drawing to the end of one of the most tumultuous fortnights in British history. A tanked economy leaving lasting damage to family finances and business confidence. Three Prime Ministers in three months. Four Chancellors in four months. One chaotic shambles after another. Britain deserves better.

The backfired Trussian experiment has drawn to an awkward close after just 50 days in office. We now have our third Prime Minister in 3 months, but to widespread disappointment, Rishi Sunak was quick to appoint the same tired faces to the Cabinet who have presided over the past twelve years of failure which made us  even more vulnerable to the irreversible damage Liz Truss then inflicted on UK markets, mortgage holders and shoppers.

As I told Politics Live, frankly, I’m sick of the Government making bad decisions like the clearly inappropriate re-appointment of Suella Braverman as Home Secretary under the guise of what’s best for Conservative Party unity. I’m only interested in what is best for the country. The merry-go-round of Tory turmoil continues, and sadly, the UK is a laughing stock internationally. Leading international publications like the Washington Post carried articles titled things like “Why Truss resigned: A guide to UK chaos”. We used to be a serious country -with a proud past, a bright future and a respected power on the world stage- now these clowns have reduced us to ridicule.
