It was very helpful to visit the site of the Mottram Bypass where the archaeology work is progressing. This is to see if there is anything of historic interest on the site, and to ensure the technical side of the project is achievable. I’ve heard lots of people assume they are now building the road, but it’s important to note these works are not building the scheme itself. We still need the Development Consent Order process to be completed (basically planning permission) and then a report sent to the Secretary of State in November this year. If approved, construction would begin in Spring 2023. Congestion relief is now in touching distance after all these years of jams and pollution. I plan to keep the pressure up until the bypass is delivered. Thanks to Robert Largan MP next door for joining the visit.
