Fantastic to visit the old Ashton Brothers site in Flowery Field to see the new homes being built on what will now be called Christy Brow.

This site is one of the most historic in terms of Hyde’s history and industry. This postcard image from the 1920s shows the three mills on the site at the peak of their power. It would later become the home of the Christy Towel brand. The mechanical process of making a towel that is still used today was effectively invented on this site.

The new homes are being built by Eccleston Homes. and it’s great to see a smaller developer get an opportunity like this. This is a high quality development with good design and well spaced out homes. Godley Brook will continue to run through the site, through a new redirected culvert with a bridge over it. Residents are already moving in, showing we continue to be a place with a significant demand for new homes.

Thanks to construction director Barry and the team for showing me round.
