Thank you to Longdendale and Hyde councillors and volunteers for establishing a new food bank in Hyde. Sadly needed in these tough economic times, the new provision will run at Grafton Centre, SK14 2AX, on Wednesdays from 2-3pm. Please note – as with all food banks – clients will need a referral from someone in the community who knows their circumstances – like a GP, school or social worker. Alternatively you can ring the helpline on 0333 772 1916 Monday to Friday 10am to 3pm. Food parcels provide sustenance for a household for 3 days, and dietary requirements such as diabetes or halal can be catered for.
Rev Denise Hayes, trustee of the food bank said, “During the last few months we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of local people and businesses. Over 2 tonnes of food has arrived at our door.” If you would like to donate food then please deliver to their warehouse at: Hattersley Baptist Church, Melandra Crescent, SK14 3RB on Mondays 10-1pm, Thursdays 10-1pm or Fridays 10-3pm. For more information visit their website.
