This month, alongside Councillor Peter Robinson I visited and measured the height of the railings on motorway bridges around Hyde.
We have tragically lost too many precious lives this way in recent years and I will be appealing to Highways England to increase the heights of the barriers. It was moving to see the messages of love and assurance to those in crisis too, lovingly written and tied to the bridges by volunteers. I know this simple gesture has saved at least one life – thank you to those responsible.
Everyone hits dark days sometimes, and whilst I believe the heightening of certain bridges is a priority, I will always continue to fight for increased mental health service provision.
