STALYBRIDGE and Hyde MP Jonathan Reynolds made time for afternoon tea with the Women's Institute, to help raise funds for a leading cancer charity,
Macmillan Cancer Support have been running 'the World's Biggest Coffee Morning' event for a number of years.
And on Friday 24 September Jonathan Reynolds attended an event at Mottram Cricket Club, hosted by Longdendale Women's Institute.
"It is a sobering thought that one in three of us will be affected by cancer at some time in our lives," said Mr Reynolds.
"And Macmillan is one of a number of cancer-related charities that work hard to offer vital help and support, when it's needed most.
"This event is a great way of raising much-needed funds as well as bringing people together at the same time. And I am delighted to be able to attend."
Macmillan Cancer Support's 'World's Biggest Coffee Morning' began as a small event in 1990.
But it has grown massively over the past 20 years. And last year 43,000 people registered to hold an event - which now includes garden parties, karaoke and pub quizzes - raising more than £8million for the charity.
The Women's Institute event was held at Mottram Cricket Club, Broadbottom Road, in Mottram.
