I am glad that this trial has now come to an end.
This has been an extremely difficult time for all those affected by this horrific crime, particularly the families of PCs Fiona Bone and Nicola Hughes, their colleagues in Greater Manchester Police, and the community of Mottram where this terrible tragedy took place.
My thoughts are principally with the families of the victims. They will never forget their loved ones, but I hope that they can now begin to rebuild their lives.
The cold-blooded, premeditated nature of these murders was truly shocking.
Dale Cregan is an extremely dangerous man, who the public must be kept safe from.
I would like to praise Greater Manchester Police and my local community for the way they have responded to these terrible events.
My area is a place where the public and the police have a strong relationship, and I will always make sure that continues to be the case.
