STALYBRIDGE and Hyde MP Jonathan Reynolds is asking local business to share their experiences of what it's like to trade in the current economic climate, by taking part in an online survey.
Across the UK, small and medium sized businesses account for the vast majority (99.9 per cent) of enterprises; providing the majority of private sector jobs. And across the Stalybridge and Hyde constituency there is a vibrant network of small and medium sized businesses.
The broad range of businesses in the constituency manufacture for the local and global market, provide a full range of services for residents and other businesses and include retailers, on the High Street and beyond.
And now Jonathan Reynolds is urging local businesses to take part in a survey in a bid to highlight the challenges they now face.
The views of local businesses will feed in to a national survey, in a bid to try and build up a clear picture of what it is like to trade in the current economic climate.
Commenting on the launch of the survey MP Jonathan Reynolds said: "Across the Stalybridge and Hyde constituency there is a vibrant network of small and medium sized businesses.
"I am proud of the successes of our local businesses - but I know that for many businesses recent years have been tough.
"Often I have the opportunity to talk to businesses and they tell me of the challenges they face - in locating new markets and in securing the finance they need in a climate where lending can be difficult to come by.
"With the Business Survey Summer 2011 I am asking businesses based in the Stalybridge and Hyde constituency to share with me their experiences of running a business in the current climate.
"The findings will feed into a national survey, which I hope will help to produce a clearer picture of the realities of running a small or medium sized business today.
"Our businesses are vital to the success and future of our communities and we need to make sure they are receiving the support that they require. I hope as many businesses as possible will respond to this survey."
The survey can be found at www.jonathanreynolds.org.uk/business-survey-summer-2011 For inclusion in the national survey responses need to be returned by the end of Friday 15 July, 2011.
