MP: 'Come and Join Me at Party Conference'

STALYBRIDGE and Hyde MP Jonathan Reynolds is inviting residents from across the region to join him at Labour Party Conference - whether they agree with his ‘politics' or not.

The Labour Party will become the first political party to throw open the doors of their conference to non-members this year.

The ground-breaking move is designed to open up conference and to enable people to share their concerns with Labour's top politicians.

Highlights of the day include a Question and Answer session with Labour Party leader Ed Miliband. And there will be the opportunity to take part in policy workshops and fringe events run by a wide range of charities and campaign groups.

Jonathan Reynolds has already written directly to dozens of constituents who he believes may be interested in the Open Day.

"Residents from across the constituency regularly contact me about a wide range of issues, from phone-hacking to the NHS, from animal cruelty to the EU," said Mr Reynolds.

"Sometimes I agree with the views expressed, sometimes I don't - but above all I value the dialogue. That's why I'm delighted that the Labour Party is to hold a special Open Day at Conference that will be available to everyone.

"Visitors to the Open Day at Conference will have the chance to share their concerns with Labour's top politicians, including taking part ion a Question and Answer session with Labour Leader Ed Miliband.

"I believe this will be a valuable opportunity for residents who care about the communities where they live to voice their concerns and to meet with like-minded people. I hope many people will take advantage of this ground-breaking move."

The invitation to the Open Day, at Liverpool Arena Convention Centre, is open to anyone. Attendance is free but for security purposes applicants do need to register for a pass at  The deadline for applications is September 2, 2011.

Commenting on the plans for the Open Day, Labour Party leader Ed Miliband said: "Many of the vital services that we all rely on are under threat from the Tory-led Government. Family budgets are being squeezed, young people find themselves with fewer opportunities and the economy continues to stall.

"We need real solutions to the problems we face, not explanations and excuses. This is why the Open Day is so important - it is our opportunity to listen to you and to discuss how we overcome the challenges facing Britain."

Stalybridge and Hyde Labour Party will be funding coach travel to Liverpool for up to 50 residents who wish to take part. For more information contact 07759 679443.
