Landmark celebration for development in Stalybridge

Topping out of Pattern HouseCIVIC leaders, developers and MP Jonathan Reynolds joined forces to celebrate the ‘topping out' of a £15million development in Stalybridge.

Pattern House is the second building to be developed by award-winning regeneration company Urban Splash as part of the Longlands scheme, in Stalybridge.

And on January 21, Stalybridge and Hyde MP Jonathan Reynolds  joined Urban Splash chairman Tom Bloxham and Tamside Council leader Cllr Kieran Quinn at the traditional ‘topping out' ceremony.

The ceremony - where guests were treated to builders' tea - marked the completion of the building's mainframe.

And it was attended by more than 100 people, including Carl Moore from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), which has invested £4.9million in the scheme.

Following the event, Mr Reynolds said: "This development is breathing new confidence to this area of Stalybridge.

"Not only is it significantly improving the landscape, but it is providing much needed affordable housing in the town.

"And I was delighted to join with the people of Stalybridge and the developers to mark the significant stage of this exciting development."

Following the event Urban Splash chairman Tom Bloxham  said: "This is a great scheme which is creating spacious, affordable apartments amd wonderful commercial space that we hope will attract businesses to the centre of Stalybridge.

"The Build team has reached a significant milestone and we look forward to celebrating the next one when we complete the building in the Spring."

And Deborah McLaughlin, executive director North West at HCA, said: "It is great to see Longlands Mill reach this important milestone. As well as provinding investment in the Longlands scheme, the HCA has been supporting Urban Splash and Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council to help them deliver these vitrally needed afordable homes for local people."
