STALYBRIDGE and Hyde MP Jonathan Reynolds is to play a key role in ensuring young members have their voice heard within the Labour Party.
Jonathan has just been named as the Party’s new Vice Chair Youth, a position that was set up as part of the Refounding Labour initiative.
He hopes that he will be able to support young members to take an active role within the Party and beyond. And last night (Tues) he attended a meeting of the Young Labour National Committee.
"Young people have an important and valuable role to play in the Labour Party," said Stalybridge and Hyde MP Jonathan Reynolds, who is also PPS to Labour leader Ed Miliband.
"It’s important that the Labour Party is influenced by as many different voices as possible. Young people have an important perspective on a wide range of issues –and it’s important that their view are heard.
"As Vice Chair Youth I will be working hard with our younger members to ensure they are allowed to make a positive contribution at a national and local level."
One of the highlights of the Young Labour calendar this year will be the Youth Conference, in Newcastle, in June.
Jonathan first became involved with the Labour Party as a teenager. He was involved with Labour Students during his time as a student at Manchester University and has served as the youth representative on the Labour Party’s National Executive Committee.
