IPSA: Publication of Parliamentary Expenses (June 2011)

parliamentTHE body set up to administer parliamentary expenses has published the latest details of claims made by Members of Parliament.

Claims are published on a bi-monthly basis by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA). And the latest data, published today (June 2) primarily relates to claims processed during January and February.

They include a wide range of claims made by MPs with the exception of some office and staffing costs, which will be published annually.

And they also include those claims made by Members of Parliament to reimburse travel costs, incurred between May 2010 and February 2011, which have already been claimed and processed.

The data published by IPSA today details claims made by Jonathan Reynolds that total £5,749.41.

The bulk of these claims were for accommodation in London and office costs. They also include claims for rail travel to and from the constituency.

Today IPSA has also published a list of repayments that have been made by MPs to IPSA.

These include four claims for advertising that were made by Jonathan, but then repaid.

Jonathan had initially claimed back a total of £59.51 to fund the advertising of his MP surgeries and his website through Facebook.

Although the claims were considered appropriate by IPSA, Jonathan subsequently decided he did not wish to use Parliamentary monies to fund publicity. And he took the decision to repay these claims to IPSA.
