It was a packed 24 hours touring all 8 wards in the constituency last Thursday and digesting the results on the BBC and LBC through the night. The most important thing to say is thank you to everyone who voted. Democracy should never be taken for granted and it’s important to play our part.
Congratulations to all those who won council seats in the constituency: Stephen Homer in Mossley, Eleanor Wills in Dukinfield/Stalybridge., David Tilbrook in Stalybridge South, Steve Barton in Stalybridge North, Hugh Roderick in Hyde Newton, Andrea Colbourne in Hyde Godley, Christopher Halligan in Hyde Werneth and Jacqueline Owen in Longdendale.
Heartfelt commiserations to everyone who missed out this time, including my Labour colleagues Jim Fitzpatrick in Hyde Werneth, Jan Jackson in Stalybridge North, Francesca Coates in Hyde Godley and Stuart MacKenzie in Stalybridge South. Congratulations to Andy Burnham for re-election as the Mayor of Greater Manchester Mayor.
Putting yourself forward takes guts. We will listen to and digest all issues raised locally.
While we had some upsets locally, across the country on the whole it was a very positive night for Labour, and I particularly want to congratulate my friend Chris Webb MP on his historic result in the Blackpool South by-election.
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to chat on the doorsteps in the last few months, we’ve had some great conversations which will only continue.
As ever if you want to get in touch about any issue email me at Jonathan.Reynolds.mp@parliament.uk, and to sign up to my fortnightly newsletter.
