I am proud to support the launch of the Jo Cox Civility Commission today, led by Jo Cox Foundation. If we want our politicians to look and sound like the people in our communities, we have to find some concrete measures to reduce abuse, intimidation and violence in politics and ensure everyone can participate in our democracy. It’s right we are able to hold elected officials to account; it’s wrong that abuse has become a central part of the job. The deaths of Jo and David must not be in vain- we have to build a better public discourse.
