All three Tameside strongly object to the plan to temporarily close the Metrolink line whilst HS2 is being built to Manchester. The trams bring vital links for Tamesiders working and studying for elsewhere in Greater Manchester, as well as drawing footfall to the borough. HS2 have accepted our constituents are affected, but challenged our right to petition the HS2 Committee on the basis that Tameside MBC and GMCA can represent these issues on our behalf. We disagree and will be each appearing in person to challenge this so we can represent the views constituents.
