There is lots of legislation that the Shadow Treasury Team will be working on in the run-up to Christmas. After the Budget, the Government presents a Finance Bill with all the measures they’ve put forward to move them into law. We will spend five days over the next two weeks taking the Tories to task on each of these measures, so for example I’ll be pushing for a way to get investment allowances to work better for small businesses rather than just big companies. I’ll also be speaking next week on a delegated legislation committee to make sure that the financial products people rely on in Britain will continue to be regulated with the proper consumer protections and safeguards even if we end up leaving the EU without a deal.
